Narrative Integration

The Shattered Story and the Path to Wholeness

What This Domain Governs

This final domain does not map to a single archetype. It maps to the condition that underlies all of them when they are wounded: narrative fragmentation. The hippocampus, which consolidates experience into coherent memory, and the default mode network, which constructs the ongoing story of the self, are its neurological terrain. Life Telling Processing™ is specifically designed to address what this domain measures: the shattered pieces of the story that have not yet been gathered into a whole.

The Nature of the Wound

The Narrative Integration domain maps directly onto the LTP framework: these are the indicators of narrative fragmentation that Life Telling Processing™ is specifically designed to address. A high score here does not indicate pathology. It indicates that the story is ready to be gathered and integrated.

How This Domain Is Assessed

The full assessment uses five statements for this domain. Each is rated on a 0–4 scale from "Never" to "Almost Always." Below are the five statements you will encounter.

1.

"I carry a persistent sense that my story does not add up, that there are chapters I cannot make sense of or integrate."

Hippocampus / Default Mode Network
2.

"Certain memories or periods of my life feel frozen or inaccessible, as though they belong to someone else."

Hippocampus / Amygdala
3.

"I find it difficult to see myself as the protagonist of my own life. I feel more like something that happened to me than someone who is living."

Default Mode Network
4.

"When certain periods of my life come up in conversation, I notice that my access to them is not free. I either go flat and distant, or the emotion is larger than I can hold in the moment."

Amygdala / Hippocampus
5.

"I sense that there is a deeper story beneath the one I tell about myself, but I do not know how to access it."

Wound Profiles

Low Score

Integrated

Your narrative appears relatively coherent. You can likely hold your story as a whole, access its difficult chapters without being overwhelmed, and see yourself as an agent within it. The invitation at this level is to examine whether there are still pieces of the story that have not yet been fully claimed.

Moderate Score

Active

There are signs of narrative fragmentation that are worth attending to. You may function well in daily life while carrying a background sense that the story does not quite hold together. The hippocampus and default mode network are working, but they are working around gaps. Life Telling Processing™ is specifically designed for this terrain.

High Score

Significantly Active

The narrative fragmentation indicated here is significant and is likely the organizing wound beneath many of the other patterns you have noticed in this assessment. The frozen chapters, the sense of being a passenger in your own life, the story that does not add up, these are not signs of weakness or failure. They are the neurological and psychological residue of experiences that have not yet been integrated into a coherent whole. This is precisely what Life Telling Processing™ addresses.
